tasmai sa hovāca / ihaivāntaḥśarīre hṛdayapuṇḍarīkākāśamadhye he somya sa puruṣo na deśāntare vijñeyo yasminnetā ucyamānāḥ ṣoḍaśa kalāḥ prāṇādyāḥ prabhavanti utpadyanta iti ṣoḍaśakalābhiḥ upādhibhūtābhiḥ sakala iva niṣkalaḥ puruṣo lakṣyate 'vidyayeti tadupādhikalādhyāropāpanayena vidyayā sa puruṣaḥ kevalo darśayitavya iti kalānāṃ tatprabhavatvamucyate / prāṇādīnāmatyantanirviśeṣe hyadvaye śuddhe tattve na śakyo 'dhyāropamantareṇa pratipādyapratipādanādivyavahāraḥ kartumiti kalānāṃ prabhavasthityapyayā āropyante avidyāviṣayāḥ / caitanyāvyatirekeṇaiva hi kalā jāyamānāḥ tiṣṭhantyaḥ pralīyamānāśca sarvadā lakṣyante /
ata eva bhrāntāḥ kecid agnisaṃyogād ghṛtamiva ghaṭādyākāreṇa caitanyam eva pratikṣaṇaṃ jāyate naśyatīti / tannirodhe śūnyamiva sarvamityapare / ghaṭādiviṣayaṃ caitanyaṃ cetayiturnityasyātmano 'nityaṃ jāyate vinaśyatītyapare / caitanyaṃ bhūtadharma iti laukayatikāḥ / anapāyopajanadharmakacaitanyamātmā eva nāmarūpādyupādhidharmaiḥ pratyavabhāsate "satyaṃ jñānamanantaṃ brahma"(tai.u.2 / 1 / 1) "prajñānaṃ brahma"(ai.u.5 / 3) "vijñānamānandaṃ brahma"(bṛ.u.3 / 9 / 28) "vijñānaghana eva"(bṛ.u.2 / 4 / 12) ityādi śrutibhyaḥ / svarūpavyabhicāriṣu padārtheṣu caitanyasyāvyabhicārādyathā yathā yo yaḥ padārtho vijñāyate tathā tathā jñāyamānatvādeva tasya tasya caitanyasyāvyabhicāritvam /
vastutattvaṃ bhavati kiñcit na jñāyata iti cānupapannam rūpaṃ ca dṛśyate na cāsti cakṣuriti yathā / vyabhicarati tu jñeyam na jñānaṃ vyabhicarati kadācidapi jñeyam, jñeyābhāve 'pi jñeyāntare bhāvājjñānasya / na hi jñāne 'sati jñeyaṃ nāma bhavati kasyacit suṣupte 'darśanāt / jñānasyāpi suṣupte 'bhāvājjñeyavajjñānasvarūpasya vyabhicāra iti cet /
na jñeyāvabhāsakasya jñānasyālokavajjñeyābhivyañjakatvātsvavyaṅgyābhāva ālokābhāvānupapattivatsuṣupte vijñānabhāvānupapatteḥ / na hyandhakāre cakṣuṣā rūpānupalabdhau cakṣuṣo 'bhāvaḥ śakyaḥ kalpayituṃ vaināśikena /
vaināśiko jñeyābhāve jñānābhāvaṃ kalpayatyeveti cet /
yena tadabhāvaṃ kalpayettasyābhāvaḥ kena kalpyata iti vaktavyaṃ vaināśikena, tadabhāvasyāpi jñeyatvājjñānābhāve tadanupapatteḥ /
jñānasya jñeyāvyatiriktatvājjñeyābhāve jñānābhāva iti cet /
na abhāvasyāpi jñeyatvābhyupagamādabhāvo 'pi jñeyobhyupagamyate vaināśikairnityaśca tadavyatiriktaṃ cejjñānaṃ nityaṃ kalpitaṃ syāttadabhāvasya ca jñānātmakatvādabhāvatvaṃ vāṅmātrameva na paramārthato 'bhāvatvamanityatvaṃ ca jñānasya / na ca nityasya jñānasyābhāvanāmamātrādhyārope kiñcinnaśchinnam /
athābhāvo jñeyo 'pi san jñānavyatirikta iti cet /
na tarhi jñeyābhāve jñānābhāvaḥ /
jñeyaṃ jñānavyatiriktaṃ na tu jñānaṃ jñeyavyatiriktamiti cet /

na, bhedasya siddhatvāt / siddhaṃ hyabhāvavijñeyaviṣayasya jñānasya abhāvajñeyavyatirekājjñeyajñānayoḥ anyatvam / na hi tatsiddhaṃ mṛtamivojjīvayituṃ punaranyathā kartuṃ śakyate vaināśikaśatairapi /
jñānasya jñeyatvameveti tadapyanyena tadapyanyeneti tvatpakṣe 'tiprasaṅga iti cet /
na, tadvibhāgopapatteḥ sarvastha / yadā hi sarvaṃ jñeyaṃ kasyacittadā tadvyatiriktaṃ jñānaṃ jñānameveti dvitīyo vibhāga evābhyupagamyate 'vaināśikerna tṛtīyastadviṣaya ityanavasthānupapattiḥ /
jñānasya svenaivāvijñeyatve sarvajñatvahāniriti cet /
so 'pi doṣastasyaivāstu kiṃ tannibarhaṇenāsmākam / anavasthādoṣaśca jñānasya jñeyatvābhyupagamāt / avaśyaṃ ca vaināśikānāṃ jñānaṃ jñeyam / svātmanā cāvijñeyatvenānavasthānivāryā.

bījavṛkṣādivatsyāditi cet / yathā bījakāryaṃ vṛkṣastatkāryaṃ ca phalaṃ svakāraṇakāraṇaṃ bījamabhyantarīkarotyāmrādi tadvat puruṣamabhyantarīkuryāccharīraṃ svakāraṇakāraṇamapīti cet /
na, anyatvātsāvayavatvācca / dṛṣṭānte kāraṇabījāt vṛkṣaphalasaṃvṛtānyanyānyeva bījāni dārṣṭāntike tu svakāraṇakāraṇabhūtaḥ sa eva puruṣaḥ śarīre 'bhyantarīkṛtaḥ śrūyate / bījavṛkṣādīnāṃ sāvayavatvācca syādādhārādheyatvaṃ niravayavaśca puruṣaḥ sāvayavāśca kalāḥ śarīraṃ ca / etenākāśasyāpi śarīrādhāratvamanupapannaṃ kimutākāśakāraṇasya purusya tasmādasamāno dṛṣṭāntaḥ /

sāṃkhyāstvavidyādhyāropitam eva puruṣe kartṛtvaṃ kriyākārakaṃ phalaṃ ceti kalpayitvāgamabāhyatvātpunastatastrasyantaḥ paramārthata eva bhoktṛtvaṃ puruṣasyecchanti tattvāntaraṃ ca pradhānaṃ puruṣātparamārthavastubhūtameva kalpayanto 'nyatārkikakṛtabuddhiviṣayāḥ santo vihanyante /
tathetare tārkikāḥ sāṃkhyaiḥ / ityevaṃ parasparaviruddhārthakalpanāt āmiṣārthina iva prāṇino 'nyonyaviruddhamānārthadarśitvāt paramārthatattvāddūram evāpakṛṣyante / atastanmatamanādṛtya vedāntārthatattvamekatvadarśanaṃ prati ādaravanto mumukṣavaḥ syuriti tārkikamatadoṣapradarśanaṃ kiñciducyata asmābhirna tu tārkikavattātparyeṇa /

pradhānapuruṣasyordvayoryugapadbhoktṛtvamiti cet /
na, pradhānasya parārthyānupapatteḥ / na hi bhoktṛrtrordvayoritaretaraguṇapradhānabhāva upapadyate prakāśayorivetaretaraprakāśane /
bhogadharmavati sattvāṅgini cetasi puruṣasya caitanyapratibimbodayo 'vikriyasya puruṣasya bhoktṛtvamiti cet /
na, puruṣasya viśeṣābhāve bhoktṛtvakalpanānarthakyāt / bhogarūpaścedanarthaḥ puruṣasya nāsti sadā nirviśeṣatvātpuruṣasya kasya apanayārthaṃ mokṣasādhanaṃ śāstraṃ praṇīyate / avidyādhyāropitānarthāpanayanāya śāstrapraṇayanamiti cetparamārthataḥ puruṣo bhoktaiva na kartā pradhānaṃ kartreva na bhoktṛparamārthasadvastvantaraṃ puruṣāccetīyaṃ kalpanāgamabāhyāvyarthā nirhetukā ceti nādartavyā mumukṣubhiḥ /
ekatve 'pi śāstrapraṇāyanādyānarthakyamiti cet /
na abhāvāt / satsu hi śāstrapraṇetrādiṣu tatphalārthiṣu ca śāstrasya praṇayanamanarthakaṃ sārthakaṃ veti vikalpanā syāt / na hyātmaikatve śāstrapraṇetrādayastato bhinnāḥ santi tadabhāva evaṃ vikalphanaivānupapannā /
abhyupagata ātmaikatve pramāṇārthaścābhyupagato bhavatā yadātmaikatvamabhyupagacchatā, tadabhyupagame ca vikalpānupapattimāha śāstram"yatra tvasya sarvamātmaivābhūttatkena kaṃ paśyet"(bṛ.u.2 / 4 / 14) ityādi / śāstrapraṇayanādyupapattiṃ cāhānyatra paramārthavastusvarūpādavidyāviṣaye / "yatra hi dvaitamiva bhavati"(bṛ.u.2 / 4 / 14) ityādi vistarato vājasaneyake /
atra ca vibhakte vidyāvidye parāpare ityādāveva śāstrasya / ato na tārkikavādabhaṭapraveśo vedāntarājapramāṇabāhugupta ihātmaikatvaviṣaya iti /
etenāvidyākṛtanāmarūpādyupādhikṛtānekaśaktisādhanaśrutabhedavattvādbrāhmaṇaḥ sṛṣṭyādikartṛtve sādhanādyabhāvo doṣaḥ pratyukto veditavyaḥ parairukta ātmānarthakartṛtvādidoṣaśca /
yastu dṛṣṭānto rājñaḥ sarvārthakāriṇi kartaryupacārādrājā karteti so 'trānubhapapannaḥ"sa īkṣāñcakre"iti śrutermukhyārthabādhanātpramāṇabhūtāyāḥ / tatra hi gauṇī kalpanā śabdasya yatra mukhyārtho na sambhavati / iha tvacetanasya muktabaddhapuruṣaviśeṣāpekṣayā kartṛkarmadeśakālanimittāpekṣayā ca bandhamokṣādiphalārthā niyatā puruṣaṃ prati pravṛttirnopapadyate / yathoktasarvajñeśvarakartṛtvapakṣe tūpapannā īśvareṇeva sarvādhikāri prāṇaḥ puruṣeṇa sṛjyate / katham sa puruṣa uktaprakāreṇekṣitvā sarvaprāṇaṃ hiraṇyagarbhākhyaṃ sarvaprāṇikaraṇādhāram ātmānam asṛjata sṛṣṭavān / ataḥ prāṇācchraddhāṃ sarvaprāṇināṃ śubhakarmapravṛttihetubhūtām / tataḥ karmaphalopabhogasādhanādhiṣṭhānāni kāraṇabhūtāni mahābhūtānyasṛjata /
svaṃ śabdaguṇam, vāyuṃ svena sparśena kāraṇaguṇena ca viśiṣṭaṃ triguṇaṃ śabdasparśābhyām / tathāpo rasena guṇena sādhāraṇena pūrvaguṇānupraveśena ca caturguṇāḥ / tathā gandhaguṇena pūrvaguṇānupraveśena ca caturguṇāḥ / tathā gandhaguṇena pūrvaguṇānupraveśena ca pañcaguṇā pṛthivī / tathā taireva bhūtairārabdhamindriyaṃ dviprakāraṃ buddhyarthaṃ karmārthaṃ ca daśasaṃkhyākaṃ tasya ceśvaramantaḥsthaṃ saṃśayasaṅkalpalakṣaṇaṃ manaḥ /
evaṃ prāṇināṃ kāryaṃ karaṇaṃ ta sṛṣṭvā tatsthityarthaṃ vrīhiyavādilakṣaṇamannam / tataścānnādadyamānādvīryaṃ sāmarthyaṃ balaṃ sarvakarmapravṛttisādhanam / tadvīryavatāṃ ca prāṇināṃ tapo viśuddhisādhanaṃ saṅkīryamāṇānām /
mantrastapoviśuddhāntarbahiḥkaraṇebhyaḥ karmasādhanabhūtāṛgyajuḥ sāmātharvāṅgirasaḥ tataḥ / karmāgnihotrādilakṣaṇam / tapo lokāḥ karmaṇāṃ phalam / teṣu ca sṛṣṭānāṃ prāṇināṃ nāma ca devadatto yajñadatta ityādi /
