brahmajñānakāraṇatvāc chāstrasya tadyonitvaṃ brahmaṇaḥ / atyantātīndriyatvena pratyakṣādipramāṇāviṣayatayā brahmaṇaś śāstraikapramāṇakatvād uktasvarūpaṃ brahma yato vā imāni bhūtānītyādivākyaṃ bodhayaty evetyarthaḥ //
brahma-jñāna-kāraṇatvāc chāstrasya tad-yonitvaṃ brahmaṇaḥ / atyanta-atīndriyatvena pratyakṣa-ādi-pramāṇa-aviṣayatayā brahmaṇaś śāstra-eka-pramāṇakatvād ukta-svarūpaṃ brahma yato vā imāni bhūtāni ity-ādi-vākyaṃ bodhayaty eva ity-arthaḥ //
nanu śāstrayonitvaṃ brahmaṇo na saṃbhavati, pramāṇāntaravedyatvād brahaṇaḥ, aprāpte tu śāstram arthavat / kiṃ tarhi tatra pramāṇam? na tāvatpratyakṣam / tad dhi dvividham -- indriyasaṃbhavaṃ yogasaṃbhavaṃ ceti / indriyasaṃbhavaṃ ca bāhyasaṃbhavam āntarasaṃbhavaṃ ceti dvividhā / bāhyendriyāṇi vidyamānasannikarṣayogyasvaviṣayabodhajananānīti na sarvārthasākṣātkāratannirmāṇasamarthapuruṣaviśeṣaviṣayabodhajananāni / nāpy āntaram; āntarasukhaduḥkhādivyatiriktabahirviṣayeṣu tasya bāhyendriyānapekṣapravṛttyanupapatteḥ / nāpi yogajanyam; bhāvanāprakarṣaparyantajanmanas tasya viśadāvabhāsatve 'pi pūrvānubhūtaviṣayasmṛtimātratvān na prāmāṇyam iti kutaḥ pratyakṣatā ? tadatiriktaviṣayatve kāraṇābhāvāt; tathā sati tasya bhramarūpavatā / nāpy anumānaṃ viśeṣatodṛṣṭaṃ sāmānyatodṛṣṭaṃ vā / atīndriye vastuni saṃbandhāvadhāraṇavirahān na viśeṣatodṛṣṭam / samastavastusākṣātkāratannirmāṇasamarthapuruṣaviśeṣaniyataṃ sāmānyatodṛṣṭam api na liṅgam upalabhayte /

nanu ca jagataḥ kāryatvaṃ tadupādānopakaraṇasaṃpradānaprayojanābhijñakartṛkatvavyāptam / acetanārabdhaṃm jagataś caikacetanādhīnatvena vyāptam / sarvaṃ hi ghaṭādikāryaṃ tadupādānopakaraṇasaṃpradānaprayojanābhijñakartṛkaṃ dṛṣṭam / acetanārabdham arogaṃ svaśarīram ekacetanādhīnaṃ ca / sāvayavatvena jagataḥ kāryatvam /
nanu ca jagataḥ kāryatvaṃ tad-upādāna-upakaraṇa-saṃpradāna-prayojana-abhijña-kartṛkatva-vyāptam / acetana-ārabdhaṃm jagataś ca eka-cetana-adhīnatvena vyāptam / sarvaṃ hi ghaṭa-ādi-kāryaṃ tad-upādāna-upakaraṇa-saṃpradāna-prayojana-abhijña-kartṛkaṃ dṛṣṭam / acetana-ārabdham arogaṃ sva-śarīram eka-cetana-adhīnaṃ ca / sa-avayavatvena jagataḥ kāryatvam /
ucyate / kim idam ekacetanādhīnatvam ? na tāvat tadāyattotpattisthititvam; dṛṣṭānto hi sādhyavikalaḥ syāt / na hy arogaṃ svaśarīram ekacetanāyattotpattisthiti; taccharīrasya bhoktṝṇāṃ bhāryādisarvacenatānām adṛṣṭajanyatvāt tadutpattisthityoḥ / kiṃ ca, śarīrāvayavinaḥ svāvayavasamavetatārūpā sthitir avayavasaṃśleṣavyatirekeṇa na cetanam apekṣate / prāṇanalakṣaṇā tu sthitiḥ pakṣatvābhimate kṣitijaladhimahīdharādau na saṃbhavatīti pakṣasapakṣānugatām ekarūpāṃ sthitiṃ nopalabhāmahe / tad āyattapravṛttitvaṃ tadadhīnatvam iti cet, anekacetanasādhyeṣu gurutararathaśilāmahīruhādiṣu vyabhicāraḥ / cetanamātrādhīnatve siddhasādhyatā /
ucyate / kim idam eka-cetana-adhīnatvam ? na tāvat tad-āyatta-utpatti-sthititvam; dṛṣṭānto hi sādhya-vikalaḥ syāt / na hy arogaṃ sva-śarīram eka-cetana-āyatta-utpatti-sthiti; tac-charīrasya bhoktṝṇāṃ bhārya-ādi-sarva-cenatānām adṛṣṭa-janyatvāt tad-utpatti-sthityoḥ / kiṃ ca, śarīra-avayavinaḥ sva-avayava-samavetatā-rūpā sthitir avayava-saṃśleṣa-vyatirekeṇa na cetanam apekṣate / prāṇana-lakṣaṇā tu sthitiḥ pakṣatva-abhimate kṣiti-jaladhi-mahīdhara-ādau na saṃbhavati iti pakṣa-sapakṣa-anugatām eka-rūpāṃ sthitiṃ na upalabhāmahe / tad -āyatta-pravṛttitvaṃ tad-adhīnatvam iti cet, aneka-cetana-sādhyeṣu guru-tara-ratha-śilā-mahīruha-ādiṣu vyabhicāraḥ / cetana-mātra-adhīnatve siddha-sādhyatā /
kiṃ ca, ubhayavādisiddhānāṃ jīvānām eva lāghavena kartṛtvābhyupagamo yuktaḥ / na ca jīvānām upādānādyanabhijñatayā kartṛtvāsaṃbhavaḥ; sarveṣām eva cetanānāṃ pṛthivyādyupādānayāgādyupakaraṇasākṣātkārasāmarthyāt; yathedānīṃ pṛthivyādayo yāgādayaś ca pratyakṣam īkṣyante / upakaraṇabhūtayāgādiśaktirūpāpūrvādiśabdavācyādṛṣṭasākṣātkārābhāve 'pi cetanānāṃ na kartṛtvānupapattiḥ; tatsākṣātkārānapekṣaṇāt kāryārambhasya / bhaktimatsākṣātkāra eva hi kāryārambhopayogī; śaktes tu jñānamātram evopayujyate, na sākṣātkāraḥ / na hi kulālādayaḥ kāryopakaraṇabhūtadaṇḍacakrādivat tacchaktim api sākṣātkṛtya ghaṭamaṇikādikāryam ārabhante / iha tu cetanānām āgamāvagatayāgādiśaktiviśeṣāṇāṃ kāryārambho nānupapannaḥ /
kiṃ ca, ubhaya-vādi-siddhānāṃ jīvānām eva lāghavena kartṛtva-abhyupagamo yuktaḥ / na ca jīvānām upādāna-ādy-anabhijñatayā kartṛtva-asaṃbhavaḥ; sarveṣām eva cetanānāṃ pṛthivy-ādy-upādāna-yāga-ādy-upakaraṇa-sākṣātkāra-sāmarthyāt; yatha īdānīṃ pṛthivy-ādayo yāga-ādayaś ca pratyakṣam īkṣyante / upakaraṇa-bhūta-yāga-ādi-śakti-rūpa-apūrva-ādi-śabda-vācya-adṛṣṭa-sākṣātkāra-abhāve 'pi cetanānāṃ na kartṛtva-anupapattiḥ; tat-sākṣātkāra-anapekṣaṇāt kārya-ārambhasya / bhaktimat-sākṣātkāra eva hi kārya-ārambha-upayogī; śaktes tu jñāna-mātram eva upayujyate, na sākṣātkāraḥ / na hi kulāla-ādayaḥ kārya-upakaraṇa-bhūta-daṇḍa-cakra-ādivat tac-chaktim api sākṣātkṛtya ghaṭa-maṇika-ādi-kāryam ārabhante / iha tu cetanānām āgama-avagata-yāga-ādi-śakti-viśeṣāṇāṃ kārya-ārambho na anupapannaḥ /
kiṃ ca, yacchakyakriyaṃ śakyopādānādivijñānaṃ ca tad eva tadabhijñakartṛkaṃ dṛṣṭam / mahīmahīdharamahārṇavādi tv aśakyakriyam aśakyopādānādivijñānaṃ ceti na cetanakartṛkam / ato ghaṭamaṇikādi sajātīyaśakyakriyaśakyopādānādivijñānavastugatam eva kāryatvaṃ buddhimankartṛpūrvakatvasādhane prabhavati /
kiṃ ca, yac-chakya-kriyaṃ śakya-upādāna-ādi-vijñānaṃ ca tad eva tad-abhijña-kartṛkaṃ dṛṣṭam / mahī-mahīdhara-mahārṇava-ādi tv aśakya-kriyam aśakya-upādāna-ādi-vijñānaṃ ca iti na cetana-kartṛkam / ato ghaṭa-maṇika-ādi sajātīya-śakya-kriya-śakya-upādāna-ādi-vijñāna-vastu-gatam eva kāryatvaṃ buddhiman-kartṛ-pūrvakatva-sādhane prabhavati /
kiṃ ca, ghaṭādikāryam anīśvareṇālpajñānaśaktinā saśarīreṇa parigrahavatānāptakāmena nirmitaṃ dṛṣṭam iti tathāvidham eva cetanaṃ kartāraṃ sādhayann ayaṃ kāryatvahetus siṣādhayiṣitapuruṣasārvajñyasarvāiśvaryādiviparītasādhanād viruddhas syāt / na caitāvatā sarvānumānocchedaprasaṅgaḥ / liṅgini pramāṇāntaragocare liṅgabalopasthāpitā viparītaviśeṣās tatpramāṇapratihatagatayo nivartante / iha tu sakaletarapramāṇāviṣaye liṅgini nikhilanirmāṇacature anvayavyatirekāvagatāvinābhāvaniyamā dharmās sarva evāviśeṣeṇa prasajyante; nivartakapramāṇābhāvāt tathaivāvatiṣṭhante / ata āgamād ṛte katham īśvaras setsyati ?
kiṃ ca, ghaṭa-ādi-kāryam anīśvareṇa alpa-jñāna-śaktinā sa-śarīreṇa parigrahavata ānāpta-kāmena nirmitaṃ dṛṣṭam iti tathā-vidham eva cetanaṃ kartāraṃ sādhayann ayaṃ kāryatva-hetus siṣādhayiṣita-puruṣa-sārvajñya-sarva-aiśvarya-ādi-viparīta-sādhanād viruddhas syāt / na ca etāvatā sarva-anumāna-uccheda-prasaṅgaḥ / liṅgini pramāṇa-antara-gocare liṅga-bala-upasthāpitā viparīta-viśeṣās tat-pramāṇa-pratihata-gatayo nivartante / iha tu sakala-itara-pramāṇa-aviṣaye liṅgini nikhila-nirmāṇa-cature anvaya-vyatireka-avagata-avinābhāva-niyamā dharmās sarva eva aviśeṣeṇa prasajyante; nivartaka-pramāṇa-abhāvāt tatha aiva avatiṣṭhante / ata āgamād ṛte katham īśvaras setsyati ?
atrāhuḥ / sāvayavatvād eva jagataḥ kāryatvaṃ na pratyākhyātuṃ śakyate / bhavanti ca prayogāḥ -- vivādādhyāsitaṃ bhūbhūdharādi kāryam, sāvayavatvāt, ghaṭādivat / tathā vivādādhyāsitam avanijaladhimahīdharādi kāryam, mahattve sati kriyāvattvāt, ghaṭavat / tanubhuvanādi kāryam, mahattve sati mūrtatvāt, ghaṭavat -- iti / sāvayaveṣu dravyeṣu idam eva kriyate netarad iti kāryatvasya niyāmakaṃ sāvayavatvātireki rūpāntaraṃ nopalabhāmahe / kāryatvapratiniyataṃ śakyakriyatvaṃ śakyopādānādivijñānatvaṃ copalabhyata iti cen na; kāryatvenānumate 'pi viṣaye jñānaśaktī kāryānumeye ity anyatrāpi sāvayavatvādinā kāryatvaṃ jñātam iti te ca pratipanne eveti na kaścid viśeṣaḥ / tathā hi ghaṭamaṇikādiṣu kṛteṣu kāryadarśanānumitakartṛgatatannirmāṇaśaktijñānaḥ puruṣo 'dṛṣṭapūrvaṃ vicitrasanniveśaṃ narendrabhavanam ālokya avayavasanniveṣaviśeṣeṇa tasya kāryatvaṃ niścitya tadānīm eva kartus tajjñānaśaktivaicitryam anuminoti / atas tanubhuvanādeḥ kāryatve siddhe sarvasākṣātkāratannirmāṇādinipuṇaḥ kvacit puruṣaviśeṣas sidhyaty eva /

kiṃ ca sarvacetanānāṃ dharmādharmanimitte 'pi sukhaduḥkhopabhoge cetanānadhiṣṭhitayos tayor acetanayoḥ phalahetutvānupapattes sarvakarmānuguṇasarvaphalapradānacaturaḥ kaścid āstheyaḥ; vardhakinānadhiṣṭhitasya vāsyāder acetanasya deśakālādyanekaparikarasannidhāne 'pi yūpādinirmāṇasādhanatvādarśanāt / bījāṅkuarādeḥ pakṣāntarbhāvena tair vyabhicārāpādanaṃ śrotriyavetālānām anabhijñatāvijṛmbhitam / tata eva sukhādibhir vyabhicāravacanam api tathaiva / na ca lāghavenobhayavādisaṃpratipannakṣetrajñānām eva īdṛśādhiṣṭhātṛtvakalpanaṃ yuktam; teṣāṃ sūkṣmavyavahitaviprakṛṣṭadarśanaśaktiniścayāt / darśanānuguṇaiva hi sarvatra kalpanā / na ca kṣetrajñavad īśvarasyāśaktiniścayo 'sti / ataḥ prāmāṇāntaro na tatsiddhyanupapattiḥ / samarthakartṛpūrvakatvaniyatakāryatvahetunā sidhyan svābhāvikasarvasākṣātkāratanniyamanaśaktisaṃpanna eva sidhyati /
kiṃ ca sarva-cetanānāṃ dharma-adharma-nimitte 'pi sukha-duḥkha-upabhoge cetana-anadhiṣṭhitayos tayor acetanayoḥ phala-hetutva-anupapattes sarva-karma-anuguṇa-sarva-phala-pradāna-caturaḥ kaścid āstheyaḥ; vardhakina ānadhiṣṭhitasya vāsya-āder acetanasya deśa-kāla-ādy-aneka-parikara-sannidhāne 'pi yūpa-ādi-nirmāṇa-sādhanatva-adarśanāt / bīja-aṅkuar-ādeḥ pakṣa-antarbhāvena tair vyabhicāra-āpādanaṃ śrotriya-vetālānām anabhijñatā-vijṛmbhitam / tata eva sukha-ādibhir vyabhicāra-vacanam api tatha aiva / na ca lāghavena ubhaya-vādi-saṃpratipanna-kṣetra-jñānām eva īdṛśa-adhiṣṭhātṛtva-kalpanaṃ yuktam; teṣāṃ sūkṣma-vyavahita-viprakṛṣṭa-darśana-śakti-niścayāt / darśana-anuguṇa aiva hi sarvatra kalpanā / na ca kṣetra-jñavad īśvarasya aśakti-niścayo 'sti / ataḥ prāmāṇa-antaro na tat-siddhy-anupapattiḥ / samartha-kartṛ-pūrvakatva-niyata-kāryatva-hetunā sidhyan svābhāvika-sarva-sākṣātkāra-tan-niyamana-śakti-saṃpanna eva sidhyati /
yat tv anaiśvaryādyāpādanena dharmaviśeṣaviparītasādhanatvam unnītam, tadanumānavṛttānabhijñatvanibandhanam; sapakṣe sahadṛṣṭānāṃ sarveṣāṃ kāryasyāhetubhūtānāṃ ca dharmāṇāṃ liṅginy aprāpteḥ / etad uktaṃ bhavati / kenacit kiṃcit kriyamāṇaṃ svotpattaye kartus svanirmāṇasāmarthyaṃ svopādānopakaraṇajñānaṃ cāpekṣate; na tv anyāsāmarthyam anyajñānaṃ ca, hetutvābhāvāt / svanirmāṇasāmarthyasvopādānopakaraṇajñānābhyām eva svotpattāv upapannāyāṃ saṃbandhitayā darśanamātreṇākiṃcitkarasyārthāntarājñānādeḥ hetutvakalpanāyogād iti / na tāvat sarvaviṣayam; na hi kulālādiḥ kriyamāṇavyatiriktaṃ kim api na jānāti / nāpi katipayaviṣayam; sarveṣu kartṛṣu tattadajñānāśaktyaniyamena sarveṣām ajñānādīnāṃ vyabhicārāt / ataḥ kāryatvasyāsādhakānām anīśvaratvādīnāṃ liṅginy apratītir iti na viparītasādhanatvam /
yat tv anaiśvarya-ādy-āpādanena dharma-viśeṣa-viparīta-sādhanatvam unnītam, tad-anumāna-vṛtta-anabhijñatva-nibandhanam; sapakṣe saha-dṛṣṭānāṃ sarveṣāṃ kāryasya ahetu-bhūtānāṃ ca dharmāṇāṃ liṅginy aprāpteḥ / etad uktaṃ bhavati / kenacit kiṃcit kriyamāṇaṃ sva-utpattaye kartus sva-nirmāṇa-sāmarthyaṃ sva-upādāna-upakaraṇa-jñānaṃ ca apekṣate; na tv anya-asāmarthyam anya-jñānaṃ ca, hetutva-abhāvāt / sva-nirmāṇa-sāmarthya-sva-upādāna-upakaraṇa-jñānābhyām eva sva-utpattāv upapannāyāṃ saṃbandhitayā darśana-mātreṇa akiṃcitkarasya artha-antara-ajñāna-ādeḥ hetutva-kalpanā-yogād iti / na tāvat sarva-viṣayam; na hi kulāla-ādiḥ kriyamāṇa-vyatiriktaṃ kim api na jānāti / na api katipaya-viṣayam; sarveṣu kartṛṣu tat-tad-ajñāna-aśakty-aniyamena sarveṣām ajñāna-ādīnāṃ vyabhicārāt / ataḥ kāryatvasya asādhakānām anīśvaratva-ādīnāṃ liṅginy apratītir iti na viparīta-sādhanatvam /
kulālādīnāṃ daṇḍacakrādyadhiṣṭhānaṃ śarīradvāreṇaiva dṛṣṭam iti jagadupādānopakaraṇādhiṣṭhānam īśvarasyā-śarīrasyānupapannam iti cen na; saṃkalpamātreṇaiva paraśarīragatabhūtavetālagaralādyapagamavināśadarśanāt / katham aśarīrasya parapravartanarūpas saṃkalpa iti cet; na śarīrāpekṣas saṃkalpaḥ, śarīrasya saṃkalpahetutvābhāvāt / mana eva hi saṃkalpahetuḥ / tadabhyupagatam īśvare 'pi; kāryatvenaiva jñānaśaktivan manaso 'pi prāptatvāt / mānasas saṃkalpas saśarīrasyaiva, saśarīrasyaiva samanaskatvād iti cen na; manaso nityatvena dehāpagame 'pi manasas sadbhāvenānaikāntyāt /
kulāla-ādīnāṃ daṇḍa-cakra-ādy-adhiṣṭhānaṃ śarīra-dvāreṇa eva dṛṣṭam iti jagad-upādāna-upakaraṇa-adhiṣṭhānam īśvarasya a-śarīrasya anupapannam iti cen na; saṃkalpa-mātreṇa eva para-śarīra-gata-bhūta-vetāla-garala-ādy-apagama-vināśa-darśanāt / katham a-śarīrasya para-pravartana-rūpas saṃkalpa iti cet; na śarīra-apekṣas saṃkalpaḥ, śarīrasya saṃkalpa-hetu-tva-abhāvāt / mana eva hi saṃkalpa-hetuḥ / tad-abhyupagatam īśvare 'pi; kāryatvena eva jñāna-śaktivan manaso 'pi prāptatvāt / mānasas saṃkalpas sa-śarīrasya eva, sa-śarīrasya eva sa-manaskatvād iti cen na; manaso nityatvena deha-apagame 'pi manasas sad-bhāvena anaikāntyāt /
ato vicitrāvayavasanniveśaviśeṣatanubhuvanādikāryanirmāṇe puṇyapāpaparavaśaḥ parimitaśaktijñānaḥ kṣetrajño na prabhavatīti nikhilabhuvananirmāṇacaturo 'cintyāparimitajñānaśaktyaiśvaryo 'śarīraḥ saṃkalpamātrasādhanapariniṣpannānantavistāravicitraracanaprapañcaḥ puruṣaviśeṣa īśvaro 'numānenaiva siddhyati / ataḥ pramāṇāntarāvaseyatvād brahmaṇo naitadvākyaṃ brahma pratipādayati /
ato vicitra-avayava-sanniveśa-viśeṣa-tanu-bhuvana-ādi-kārya-nirmāṇe puṇya-pāpa-para-vaśaḥ parimita-śakti-jñānaḥ kṣetra-jño na prabhavati iti nikhila-bhuvana-nirmāṇa-caturo 'cintya-aparimita-jñāna-śakty-aiśvaryo '-śarīraḥ saṃkalpa-mātra-sādhana-pariniṣpanna-ananta-vistāra-vicitra-racana-prapañcaḥ puruṣa-viśeṣa īśvaro 'numānena eva siddhyati / ataḥ pramāṇa-antara-avaseyatvād brahmaṇo na etad-vākyaṃ brahma pratipādayati /
kiṃ ca, atyantabhinnayor eva mṛddravyakulālayor nimittopādānatvadarśanena ākāśāder niravayavadravyasya kāryatvānupapattyā ca naikam eva brahma kṛtsnasya jagato nimittam upādānaṃ ca pratipādayituṃ śaknotīti //
kiṃ ca, atyanta-bhinnayor eva mṛd-dravya-kulālayor nimitta-upādānatva-darśanena ākāśa-āder niravayava-dravyasya kāryatva-anupapattyā ca na ekam eva brahma kṛtsnasya jagato nimittam upādānaṃ ca pratipādayituṃ śaknoti iti //
evaṃ prāpte brūmaḥ -- yathoktalakṣaṇaṃ brahma janmādivākyaṃ bodhayaty eva / kutaḥ? śāstraikapramāṇakatvād brahmaṇaḥ / yad uktaṃ sāvayavatvādinā kāryaṃ sarvaṃ jagat, kāryaṃ ca taducitakartṛviśeṣapūrvakaṃ dṛṣṭam iti nikhilajagannirmāṇatadupādānopakaraṇavedanacaturaḥ kaścid anumeya iti; tad ayuktam; mahīmahārṇavādīnāṃ kāryatve 'pi ekadaivaikenaiva nirmitā ity atra pramāṇābhāvāt / na caikasya ghaṭasyeva sarveṣām ekaṃ kāryatvam, yenaikadaikaḥ kartā syāt / pṛthagbhūteṣu kāryeṣu kālabhedakartṛbhedadarśanena kartṛkālāikyaniyamādarśanāt / na ca kṣetrajñānāṃ vicitrajagannirmāṇaśaktyā kāryatvabalena tadatiriktakalpanāyām anekakalpanānupapatteś ca ekaḥ kartā bhavitum arhatīti; kṣetrajñānām evopacitapuṇyaviśeṣāṇāṃ śaktivaicitryadarśanena teṣām evātiśayitādṛṣṭasaṃbhāvanayā ca tattadvilakṣaṇakāryahetutvasaṃbhavāt, tadatiriktātyantādṛṣṭapuruṣakalpanānupapatteḥ / na ca yugapat sarvotpattis sarvocchittiś ca pramāṇapadavīm adhirohataḥ; adarśanāt, krameṇaivotpattivināśadarśanāc ca / kāryatvena sarvotpattivināśayoḥ kalpyamānayoḥ darśanānuguṇyena kalpanāyāṃ virodhābhāvāc ca / ato buddhimadekakartṛkatve sādhye kāryatvasyānaikāntyam, pakṣasyāprasiddhaviśeṣaṇatvam, sādhyavikalatā ca dṛṣṭāntasya; sarvanirmāṇacaturasyaikasyāprasiddheḥ / buddhimatkartṛkatvamātre sādhye siddhasādhanatā / sārvajñyasarvaśaktiyuktasya kasyacid ekasya sādhakam idaṃ kāryatvaṃ kiṃ yugamadutpadyamānasarvavastugatam ? uta krameṇotpadyamānasarvavāstugatam ? yugapadutpadyamānasarvavastugatatve kāryatvasyāsiddhatā / krameṇotpadyamānasarvavastugatatve anekakarṭrkatvasādhanād viruddhatā / atrāpy ekakarṭrkatvasādhane pratyakṣānumānavirodhaś śāstravirodhaś ca; kumbhakāro jāyate, rathakāro jāyata ityādiśravaṇāt / api ca sarveṣāṃ kāryāṇāṃ śarīrādīnāṃ ca sattvādiguṇakāryarūpasukhādyanvayadarśanena sattvādimūlatvam avaśyāśrayaṇīyam / kāryavaicitryahetubhūtāḥ kāraṇagatā viśeṣās sattvādayaḥ; teṣāṃ kāryāṇāṃ tanmūlatvāpādanaṃ tadyuktapuruṣāntaḥkaraṇavikāradvāreṇa, puruṣasya ca tadyogaḥ karmamūlaḥ -- iti kāryaviśeṣārambhāyaiva jñānaśaktivat kartuḥ karmasaṃbandhaḥ kāryahetutvenaivāvaśyāśrayanīyaḥ; jñānaśaktivaicitryasya ca karmamūlatvāt / icchāyāḥ kāryārambhahetutve 'pi viṣayaviśeṣaviśeṣitāyās tasyās sattvāimūlakatvena karmasaṃbandho 'varjanīyaḥ / ataḥ kṣetrajñā eva kartāraḥ, na tadvilakṣaṇaḥ kaścid anumānāt sidhyati / bhavanti ca prayogāḥ -- tanubhuvanādi kṣetrajñakartṛkam, kāryatvāt, ghaṭavat / īśvaraḥ kartā na bhavati, prayojanaśūnyatvāt, muktātmavat / īśvaraḥ kartā na bhavati, aśarīratvāt, tadvad eva / na ca kṣetrajñānāṃ svaśarīrādhiṣṭhāne vyabhicāraḥ, tatrāpy anādes sūkṣmaśarīrasta sadbhāvāt/ vimativiṣayaḥ kālo na lokaśūnyaḥ, kālatvāt, vartamānakālavad iti /
evaṃ prāpte brūmaḥ --- yatha ūkta-lakṣaṇaṃ brahma janma-ādi-vākyaṃ bodhayaty eva / kutaḥ? śāstra-eka-pramāṇakatvād brahmaṇaḥ / yad uktaṃ sa-avayavatva-ādinā kāryaṃ sarvaṃ jagat, kāryaṃ ca tad-ucita-kartṛ-viśeṣa-pūrvakaṃ dṛṣṭam iti nikhila-jagan-nirmāṇa-tad-upādāna-upakaraṇa-vedana-caturaḥ kaścid anumeya iti; tad ayuktam; mahī-mahārṇava-ādīnāṃ kāryatve 'pi ekada aiva ekena eva nirmitā ity atra pramāṇa-abhāvāt / na ca ekasya ghaṭasya iva sarveṣām ekaṃ kāryatvam, yena ekada aikaḥ kartā syāt / pṛthag-bhūteṣu kāryeṣu kāla-bheda-kartṛ-bheda-darśanena kartṛ-kāla-aikya-niyama-adarśanāt / na ca kṣetra-jñānāṃ vicitra-jagan-nirmāṇa-śaktyā kāryatva-balena tad-atirikta-kalpanāyām aneka-kalpanā-anupapatteś ca ekaḥ kartā bhavitum arhati iti; kṣetra-jñānām eva upacita-puṇya-viśeṣāṇāṃ śakti-vaicitrya-darśanena teṣām eva atiśayita-adṛṣṭa-saṃbhāvanayā ca tat-tad-vilakṣaṇa-kārya-hetutva-saṃbhavāt, tad-atirikta-atyanta-adṛṣṭa-puruṣa-kalpanā-anupapatteḥ / na ca yugapat sarva-utpattis sarva-ucchittiś ca pramāṇa-padavīm adhirohataḥ; adarśanāt, krameṇa eva utpatti-vināśa-darśanāc ca / kāryatvena sarva-utpatti-vināśayoḥ kalpyamānayoḥ darśana-ānuguṇyena kalpanāyāṃ virodha-abhāvāc ca / ato buddhimad-eka-kartṛkatve sādhye kāryatvasya anaikāntyam, pakṣasya aprasiddha-viśeṣaṇatvam, sādhya-vikalatā ca dṛṣṭāntasya; sarva-nirmāṇa-caturasya ekasya aprasiddheḥ / buddhimat-kartṛkatva-mātre sādhye siddha-sādhanatā / sārvajñya-sarva-śakti-yuktasya kasyacid ekasya sādhakam idaṃ kāryatvaṃ kiṃ yugamad-utpadyamāna-sarva-vastu-gatam ? uta krameṇa utpadyamāna-sarva-vāstu-gatam ? yugapad-utpadyamāna-sarva-vastu-gatatve kāryatvasya asiddhatā / krameṇa utpadyamāna-sarva-vastu-gatatve aneka-karṭrkatva-sādhanād viruddhatā / atra apy eka-karṭrkatva-sādhane pratyakṣa-anumāna-virodhaś śāstra-virodhaś ca; kumbha-kāro jāyate, ratha-kāro jāyata ity-ādi-śravaṇāt / api ca sarveṣāṃ kāryāṇāṃ śarīra-ādīnāṃ ca sattva-ādi-guṇa-kārya-rūpa-sukha-ādy-anvaya-darśanena sattva-ādi-mūlatvam avaśya-āśrayaṇīyam / kārya-vaicitrya-hetu-bhūtāḥ kāraṇa-gatā viśeṣās sattva-ādayaḥ; teṣāṃ kāryāṇāṃ tan-mūlatva-āpādanaṃ tad-yukta-puruṣa-antaḥkaraṇa-vikāra-dvāreṇa, puruṣasya ca tad-yogaḥ karma-mūlaḥ --- iti kārya-viśeṣa-ārambhāya eva jñāna-śaktivat kartuḥ karma-saṃbandhaḥ kārya-hetutvena eva avaśya-āśrayanīyaḥ; jñāna-śakti-vaicitryasya ca karma-mūlatvāt / icchāyāḥ kārya-ārambha-hetutve 'pi viṣaya-viśeṣa-viśeṣitāyās tasyās sattva-āi-mūlakatvena karma-saṃbandho 'varjanīyaḥ / ataḥ kṣetra-jñā eva kartāraḥ, na tad-vilakṣaṇaḥ kaścid anumānāt sidhyati / bhavanti ca prayogāḥ --- tanu-bhuvana-ādi kṣetra-jña-kartṛkam, kāryatvāt, ghaṭavat / īśvaraḥ kartā na bhavati, prayojana-śūnyatvāt, mukta-ātmavat / īśvaraḥ kartā na bhavati, a-śarīratvāt, tadvad eva / na ca kṣetra-jñānāṃ sva-śarīra-adhiṣṭhāne vyabhicāraḥ, tatra apy anādes sūkṣma-śarīrasta sad-bhāvāt/ vimati-viṣayaḥ kālo na loka-śūnyaḥ, kālatvāt, vartamāna-kālavad iti /
api ca, kim īśvaras saśarīro 'śarīro vā kāryaṃ karoti ? na tāvad aśarīraḥ; aśarīrasya kartṛtvānupalabdheḥ / mānasāny api kāryāṇi saśarīrasyaiva bhavanti; manaso nityatve 'pi aśarīreṣu mukteṣu tatkāryādarśanāt / nāpi saśarīraḥ; vikalpāsahatvāt -- taccharīraṃ kiṃ nityam utānityam ? na tāvan nityam; sāvayavasya tasya nityatve jagato 'pi nityatvāvirodhād īśvarāsiddheḥ / nāpy anityam; tadvyatiriktasya taccharīrahetos tadānīm abhāvāt / svayam eva hetur iti cen na; aśarīrasya tadayogāt; anyena śarīreṇa saśarīra iti cen na; anavasthānāt /

sa kiṃ savyāpāro nirvyāpāro vā ? aśarīratvād eva na savyāpāraḥ / nāpi nirvyāpāraḥ kāryaṃ karoti muktātmavat / kāryaṃ jagad icchāmātravyāpārakartṛkam ity ucyamāne pakṣasyāprasiddhaviśeṣaṇatvam, dṛṣṭāntasya ca sādhyahīnatā /
sa kiṃ sa-vyāpāro nirvyāpāro vā ? a-śarīratvād eva na sa-vyāpāraḥ / na api nirvyāpāraḥ kāryaṃ karoti mukta-ātmavat / kāryaṃ jagad icchā-mātra-vyāpāra-kartṛkam ity ucyamāne pakṣasya aprasiddha-viśeṣaṇatvam, dṛṣṭāntasya ca sādhya-hīnatā /
ato darśanānuguṇyeneśvarānumānaṃ darśanānuguṇyaparāhatam iti śāstraikapramāṇakaḥ parabrahmabhūtas sarveśvaraḥ puruṣottamaḥ / śāstraṃ tu sakaletarapramāṇaparidṛṣṭasamastavastuvisajātīyaṃ sārvajñyasatyasaṃkalpatvādimiśrānavadhikātiśayāparimitodāraguṇasāgaraṃ nikhilaheyapratyanīkasvarūpaṃ pratipādayatīti na pramāṇāntarāvasitavastusādharmyaprayuktadoṣagandhaprasaṅgaḥ /
ato darśana-ānuguṇyenā iśvara-anumānaṃ darśana-ānuguṇya-parāhatam iti śāstra eka-pramāṇakaḥ para-brahma-bhūtas sarva-īśvaraḥ puruṣa-uttamaḥ / śāstraṃ tu sakala-itara-pramāṇa-paridṛṣṭa-samasta-vastu-visajātīyaṃ sārvajñya-satya-saṃkalpatva-ādi-miśra-anavadhika-atiśaya-aparimita-udāra-guṇa-sāgaraṃ nikhila-heya-pratyanīka-sva-rūpaṃ pratipādayati iti na pramāṇa-antara-avasita-vastu-sādharmya-prayukta-doṣa-gandha-prasaṅgaḥ /
yat tu nimittopādānayor aikyam ākāśāder niravayavadravyasya kāryatvaṃ cānupalabdham aśakyapratipādanam ity uktam, tad apy aviruddham iti prakṛtiś ca pratijñādṛṣṭāntānuparodhāt, na viyadaśruter ity atra pratipādayiṣyate / ataḥ pramāṇāntarāgocaratvena śāstraikaviṣayatvād yato vā imāni bhūtānīti vākyam uktalakṣaṇaṃ brahma pratipādayatīti siddham //1,1.3//
